Default needle

Newbe here, also to gasers. The question I have is,what type needle is a cgk, that is what is stamped on the needle. Is this a stock needle? My 300 is alittle hard to start cold,I have #mj178,#42pj,airscrew 1 and 1 half turns, needle on the third clip down, plug is alittle damp with fuel, any ideas?Should I switch to a cck needle? Thanks in advance.

Hi Jim!
Welcome.
What year is your 300?

Maybe this will help.

above is from:

I am terrible with carbs, but I'm willing to learn.

CGK on clip 5 is equal to a CCK on clip 1....

You could go to the 5th clip with your CGK, it would be like a CEK-3 or CCK-1

G is the longest L1 in the series, you would richen up the bike by moving the needle to clip 5.

I have had good results with going fatter on the needle straight diameter "K" move to an L, M, N, or P, and staying in the 42 range on the pilot jet. In cooler weather you could go up to a 45 on the pilot.

Thanks for the replys,so that explains why I have to give it alittle throttle to get it to fire quickly.I will try the #5 clip.My 300 is a 03 atv.Simply love it,smooth fast power. It feels stronger than my 467 Cannondale. After owning and riding so many four strokes, its nice to hear that ding ding again.

jimjim, this sudco chart is also very good, you can clearly see where your CGK fits in with all the other listed needles.
