Love your Pivot Pegs but hate the maintanence?
I do, those 1mm orings are impossible to keep intact and seal the pivot. When they dry and get dirty, the friction just tears them up. Finally did something about it. Added the fitting, and one 1.5mm oring on the inboard side that fits tighter and is more robust. The fitting needs to be spaced out by two M6 washers. Just grease after every ride/wash until clean grease comes out.

Ha. I was just looking at mine today and noticed all the slop.
Nice mod. |

Ya they do take a little bit to maintain don't they...
Great idea. Thx for sharing.

I change at mine the bushings to some plastic bushings you don't have to grease. Works very well.

Delrin? Good stuff, but even so, grit entering the pivot will imbed in the bushing and wear the shaft. A packing of grease will keep most out, and forcing new grease in will purge out what does get in. The outboard oring is eliminated for this reason, it doesn't last anyway. I kept mine in great shape, bought bulk orings, changed and greased regularly. Too much work though, this is better.

Steve,
Yes, absolutely, for me anyway. It makes shifting your position while standing very natural. There going on my '12. |

Thanks Steve. One more thing, if you guys do this, red loctite the threads on the grease fitting. The wall thickness limits the L/D to less than 1, but its not stressed so its OK. You just need a decent seal on the threads and basic retention. I tried to eliminate the washers, but the way the spring/ball is retained in the fittings prevent cutting/grinding the threads to length.

Good idea, I'd already added a nipple to my kickstarter but I can see them going into the pegs as well. I've been religious about greasing mine, and they still wore out in one season.
