Default Mesico pipe vs FMF

I bought my son an 03 GG EC250 and the guy gave me the Mesico pipe and it has a FMF on it (I thought they came stock with FMF). My question is my 14 year old son is riding the bike and I was wondering which pipe is easier to ride? If the Mesico has less hit at the cost of top end that would be great! What are the differences in power between the two?

My '98 EC250 came stock with a Messico pipe and it had a pretty smooth transition from off-idle to WOT. An FMF pipe on the same bike had a lot more mid-range hit. Only problem with the Messico was the thin walls which, even with a CF guard, got pretty hammered in the rocks. I'd like to try a Messico on my '03 EC300, but those pipes are pretty expensive compared to the FMF.

I took my fmf off my 03 and ran a messico,, way way better.. more power though the entire spread,, but more of a controllable power.. after two rides I sold the fmf.. The messico is very thin tho.. I ran a alum guard like the flatland guards.. They should be easy to find used.. The 03 has the engine tilted slightly more than pre 03.. but the messico from the earlier bikes fit my 03 fine..

Just find an OEM GG pipe. Its much like the Messico in performance, but heavy guage like an FMF Gnarly.

Default answer my own question

I put the Messica on my EC300 and really liked it. Seems to add more everywhere and smooth it out even more. My son says he likes the hit of the FMF and wants to leave it (he just likes fast trails, nothing technical). Hope this helps.

Default Trades pipes, follow up

I have sold my 02 EC300 and got me an 06. The newer had the Gasgas pipe, and I felt like it was not as powerful so I switched pipes. The Messica is awesome, it added a lot of power everywhere. I remember in years past adding Pro Circuit pipes to CR's etc and wasn't impressed. This pipe really impressed me, this thing is blinding fast now.
