New top end?
Hi everybody looking for peoples opinions on whether i should get a new top end or not. The piston itself looks in good condition, using a feeler gauge i got 0.45mm inbetween piston and cylinder. I measure the ring gap on one i got 0.5mm and the other 0.4mm. The gap between piston and cylinder seems quite big to me but im not expert. So what do you guys think new piston kit or not?
Cheers everybody |

If I went as far as to unbolt the head I'd drop a kit in it. It's easy and not very expensive.
I've replaced before and found that everything had been within spec. but you never know if the metal is fatigued so I feel that it's cheap insurance. I think I've got over 25K hard miles on my '03. She's no longer very pretty but has never failed me. Maintain her well and she'll take care of you. |

Can anyone recommend any good brands for the piston kit then? Was thinking Wossner or Weisco just because there known well for car pistons. Also should i get forged or not? cheers
