Fitting new kill switch, which cables.

I have a 2005 xc300 which I have removed the lights off. All I have done is unplugged the front and back units, and the speedo and the horn, and handle bar switch. There isnt a map switch. I have then taped up the plugs on the bike to protect from damp. I have a 2 wire button kill switch and was wanting to know which cables to connect them to. regards mark

The only difference might be the wiring colors on your older bike.

thanks for that, so if I read it right, earth one and connect the other to one of 2 wires depending on the year/colour config of the cables.

Correct, one wire from your CDI (usually black/yellow or yellow/black) gets made to yellow/green (chassis ground) by the kill button to short out the ignition.
