Still pulled apart..

Forks disassembled, cleaned, little shuffle to the mid comp.. and mostly back together. Just need to add oil!

Shock pulled, cleaned, and serviced. Just needs a spring to be put back on.

Linkage bare! Awaiting new needle rollers, seals and bushings.

Swingarm pivot and bearings cleaned and lubricated.

Headstem bearings same as above. Clean nnn lube!

Airbox cleaned, few bolts replaced, some running repairs where the subframe had started to flog out. Awaiting silicone to seal up the gaps in the airbox again.

New front sprocket fitted!

New front pads on the ready!

That is all!

Except I have also worn right through the plastic sleeve for the front brake line. Will need to line up a replacement soon, before she starts wearing through the coating and into the braid.

Rear disc has seen some better days too! Better get one of them ordered.

Why do kms wear things out?

I am trying to put new grips on but I discovered that the GasGas 250 4T has an odd sized throttle tube cam and I'm not sure where to get one.

The throttle tube I have is cracked and I'd like a spare just in case. Of course GasGas doesn't list just the throttle tube, only the complete throttle assembly for $104, which is a bit much.

It appears that the throttle tube is the same as a KTM 4T model but not 100% sure on that.

After all the mechanical work I've done recently I decided to give the bike a bit of a face lift

Out with the old 08 front

In with the '11

I'm really pleased with the look, one I learn how to remove the front wheel , I'll put the nice new white fork guards

Did a race on Saturday. Great fun. Crashed on a nice, round rock. RHS radiator got banana shaped but no leaks. I know, I should have bought some radiator guards earlier...

I ordered a set from Bulletproof Designs just now. Better late than never I guess.

YouTube will show you how (shockingly) easy it is to straighten a radiator if you take your time about it

Yep. Found a video showing the tecnique. I guess I'll try it out, but I'm afraid it will start leaking if I knock it around too much. I think it will fit within the radiator guard as it is, but we'll see when the Bulletproof ones arrive in 2-3 weeks.

-Installed new Nachi rear wheel bearings, seals, and Checkpoint wheel spacers (thanks for install directions for that weird aluminum washer!)
-Repacked exhaust
-Spooned on a new rear tire
-Changed tranny oil w 900 ml Rotella 15w40
-Installed new Checkpoint oversized power valve cover
-Fresh Engine Ice coolant
-New Pillowtop grips
-Installed thin rubber floor matting to top of skid plate (to attenuate engine noise)
-Rejetted for 5k'+ elevation

She's ready for a 1,500 mile roadtrip to Idaho for the Klim Cow Tag ride!

Have you tried Les Tinnius for the pv cover? Les made the first commercially available ones for us.
http://ltracing.com/

If Les Tinnius is out of them, they are listed on Matt Stavish's web site. They make some great accessories for Gas Gas. (Matt used to be a GasGas factory off-road rider for the US National enduro and hare scrambles.)
Look on this page.

Good Luck and Good Riding!
