Banjo Bolt - Front Brake M/C
Based on a tip in another thread (from Steve Beane of After Hours Cycle), I replaced my switched front brake master cylinder banjo bolt with a regular bolt.
I was fighting a mushy feeling brake, regardless of constant bleeding. With the regular banjo bolt the brake feel is much better - mushy feeling much reduced. Honda part no. 90145-MS9-612 BOLT, OIL (10X22) is the same size as the switched bolt and mounts straight up. |

Thanks for the part number. This has been on my to-do list.

Which model/year honda is it off? I think I'll grab one too. Fluids are due to be changed and the brake lights disconnected anyway. I too have noticed a little sponge to the lever.

The part number I listed was from a 2010 CRF450R, but I'm sure it's used on other Honda models too.

Nasty, ugly, cold fall is closing in here. Our friends in western Canada are full on into the deep freeze and snow at present. Here in southern Ontario, we're waiting for the ground to freeze up so we can transition to the studded tire routine. We just sourced some nice local, hardwood forest to cut single-track into. Gonna be a good winter of riding. Electric grip warmers and jumbo handguard muffs are my key to winter riding. Enjoy your Aussie Summer mate! |

You make some valid points there. I can pretty much ride year round with exception to a few months where we're rained out and all the creeks are unpassable. Warming up here, 30C/86F with 70%RH. Doesn't take much to break out a sweat.

it does not have to be a Honda part. Pretty much any 10mm Jap bike bolt should work. I went to my local guy and he pulled 3 out of his "used" bin. They all fit.
Brake action and feel was much better after swapping them [03 300] but still required more effort than I wanted. I swapped out the master/caliper set up from my old YZ and now it does stopies without much effort.

Does the same bolt fit both the front and rear?
Hey Jake, try 95-98F with 95% Humidity. It's like riding in a green house...70% humidity sounds pleasant. Hell, I walk outside 100ft to check my mail box and bust out sweating bullets in 2 minutes..... Gotta love the Dirty South!
