Default Two-stroke bikes with EFI?

I have been hearing rumors that KTM will have EFI on the two-strokes starting in 2008. Along with the EFI, the bikes will have a battery and electric start. I don't see much use for an electric start on two-strokes... the bikes are easy to start as-is. Have you guys heard about this rumor yet?

Why hasn't GasGas played with EFI on its two-strokes? They have a proven EFI design from the FSE. They could use a battery or a kickstart-generator like on the new Montesa trials bike.

KTM is rumored to release a electric start 300 2 stroke in Decemeber. Killing the engine on a hill it would sure come in handy.

Ive heard electric start on the KTM two strokes in 08 and direct injection similar to direct injection used in the marine market in 2009. Either way it should be real interesting. Im sure GasGas is looking at this too, I hope anyways!

From what I've read on ktmtalk, electric start for the 250/300 engine will be an add on kit that should be available soon.

I'd bet that 2T direct injection is probably being tinkered with by KTM and GG. Until the EPA gets tough on the "closed course" exemption I can't see why they would bother with full production.

fuel injection would sure blow a BIG hole into the HOW TO JET MY BIKE THREADS! fuel injection is so good and reliable in a lot of different aplications,I can't wait till it becomes the same in our world of dirtbikes.

KTM would be working have a decent headstart on EFI 2T's because they are able to share ideas with Polaris. Polaris has a 600 and 700 2-cyl EFI that seems to be working well, I'll let you in the spring after a winter of riding the 700.
