Red face Pipes and Jetting

This may be a dumb question for all you technically saavy guys out there... I bought my 2004 EC 300 from the original owner who had installed an FMF Gnarly Gold Series pipe... I also got the original GG pipe...

When my Gnarly pipe became sufficiently dented and dinged , I sent it off to be repaired and installed the GG pipe... I immediately noticed alot of piston pinging at higher rpms and it seems to be running hotter also... really lean apparently...

Does this have to do with the jetting?... I remember reading somewhere that when you change pipes, you often have to re-jet... is this the case for my situation??

Thanks guys!

I'm not from US so not sure what they shipped you in which year. Wondering if you have one with a restriction or catalyst?

nope, no restriction or catalyst... just the standard GG pipe and the standard FMF Gnarly pipe...

The Gasgas pipe is good for mid to top end power where as the Gnarly is more of a bottom to mid end pipe. Therefore, you jetting is richer on the bottom and leaner on the top. Try lowering the clip 1 position.

No problem. If that does not help in the bottom end try a smaller pilot jet.
