Default I chopped my Q-Stealth

The little internal spigot thing that attaches to the back/inside of the tip was rattling in the cone (two mini spot welds broke).

In a pique, I decided to tear it down and fix it. Then I said, "Screw it. Let's cut this thing."

I did some rough measurements and decided on cutting 4-inches off the back end using a compound miter saw. For you Euro guys, 4-inches is the same distance as from the left side of the caps lock key and the right side of the F key on your 2006 MacBook Pro 17. That's like about 100 millimeters.

I put it all together, and while I didn't kick it to life, I suspect that a dyno would find a bit more bottom, a tad more top, and about 1db less on a standard sound test.

Here's what the innards looked like, pre-cut.

Not my photo.

That looks great!
I cut mine down last year and took about 5" out of it. Plus I cut back the little internal baffle a bit as well. I Was playing with jetting at the same time so I didn't really get a back to back comparison but I think it made a pretty good difference all over. I even ordered new decals for it from FMF.

I was tempted to go stubbier than 4-inches but I kind of liked the aesthetic of having the cone being set back from the rear mounting tab.

I love science.

I cut 4.750" off of mine and then re-welded the spark arrestor and baffles back together. I honestly don't think it is any louder than stock and no more spooge!2015-03-21 13.52.53 (800x533).jpg

I chopped mine right back. Fat jetting will still create spooge, but not as bad as stock.

Are you leaving the spark arrestor in place or omitting? I dropped mine. I don't notice it being overly loud.

I kept the Turbine core but left the spigot removed.

I took a short spin on it last night. Sounds different. Kinda weird sounding.
