Default Big End Rebuild - crank seals

I am busy trying to arrange to do a big-end rebuild on my 2010 EC300.

the GG supplier near me has informed me that they have both crank bearings and the conrod, however the crank seals are not available and according to them are only available from GG.

Anyone know if there is a cross-over seal from a different brand or if they are in fact available from a bearing shop?

I picked up a stator side main from the local bearing shop, and will have the pinion side here in my spares too. All should be easily found locally.

Thanks. This is for the seals, not the bearings?

also any special tools required, still trying to decide if i do it myself or send it to my mechanic, either way i need all the parts upfront as the mechanic is not a GG mech.

I believe these are correct for the older GG bikes. I think they will work on the new ones too.

my buddy needs them also for his '11 ec300. Threw a stuffer bolt and had to split the cases. Found these on ebay from the UK. and they ship worldwide:

Matt, we split the cases with a K and L case splitter, about 100.00, but the Tusk racing one looks like it would work from Rocky Mountain, $70. Also ordered the Tusk crank puller, also 70$. This is an easy job if you have the time and pay attention to how it comes apart. Take lots of pix or video. My friend is sending his crank to RB designs to separate and put a new con rod kit in it. His prices are 50 for a 300 cc crank (labor only) plus shipping. All others we checked wanted 150 to 250 for labor.
For my bike, Bob Piper at N tahoe motorsports (you can contact him thru his ebay store) put together a bottom end "refresh" kit for me, and shipped it to me in about a weeks time. All bearings, seals, connecting rod kit included.

The tools are an initial investment, you may not save much money on the first time you split cases, but if you ever do it again, then you will realize the savings. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Why are you rebuilding? Are you having radial play in the big end?

Thanks for all the feedback. Now for the decision

My reason is that the bearings should be replaced at 100hrs (according to GG) and according to ggforum the sealed bearings have been found to be almost dry at 200hrs, I am at about 230hrs (and numerous drownings) so it is mostly preventative maintenance. I am about to do the second top end so not sure if there is any play yet
