Local AA rider I ride with, can only go 24 miles on his. That's in setting 2.
He needs a 4000w inverter generator to charge it. |

That?s not horrible.
Lithium-graphene batteries would double that and increase charge cycle counts by 50%. And other benefits. |

Not really.
I don't know if you remember that "balloon loop" we rode- way back when. It's 28 miles. He can't make it at race pace. |

Which model and battery pack does he have? The new battery pack has more capacity than the previous versions. And I agree that the newer Lithium-Graphene batteries should help out (charging and capacity), assuming that the technology lives up to the expectations.

Redshift MX.
I think the 5.6 battery. Alta told him the batteries are the same. Just software different on the new models. |

Annnnd, Lithium-Graphene batteries are much less prone to common failures of all types (breaking, fire).
The addition of graphene layers cures all sorts of ills. Battery types that are known to be high capacity but low discharge rate will have much better discharge rates. Batteries with good discharge rates but low capacity... guess what? It fixes that too. Wasn?t this a 4-stroke thread?? |

Nah, who wants a 4T? Not me, but there are long distance riders who will.
I've been eyeing the Alta as a possible next bike, but I'd be much happier buying an electric powered GG enduro with KYB suspension. The next improvement in battery technology should provide enough range for my needs.

about 80km's or so.. He did a 15 minute charge at the first gas stop, and was falling off pace because of the difficulty of the terrain, and then fell further off at the second gas stop and houred out.

We're buried in the bush, no electricity, and no generators... Even if we brought generators we'd need a minimum 50 mile range to find someone who has a generator to recharge at a lunch stop or something, then be able to ride back to keep doing our favourite loops. Or realistically a bike with a minimum 100 mile range to be safe... When bikes can hit 120 miles or so to a charge and have a 1/2 hour recharge time, I'll start looking at them... the Dacre Rally is 350-400 miles in one day for my class, Gonna be a long time before I can run that on an e-bike. I just can't see switching anytime soon. Not for what I do with my bike... I know I'm asking the world, But my two stroke with an IMS tank is perfect, and gas stations are plentiful and cheap.

It can do that range (common lithium-ion tech) in street clothes where dolks are used to bikes that are 100 poinds heavier (that would be 100 pounds of batteries).
