Nice idea Mark. You could go one step farther and add a connector so the seat/battery could be removed easy. Also, the seats from the the 4strokes have anadditional recess molded into the seat base for even more space if needed.

Nice. I did think about it and will probably end up doing that as the wires have fractured from behind the soldered , crimped lugs once already.
So far though the battery setup has been faultless and weighs bugger all. Cheers Mark |

Here is how I installed the battery in my 2002 EC300.
I made a box out of some scrap Carbon Fiber tube I got at work. And I mounted the Rectifier/Regulator to the box. I also included the pigtail from a BatteryTender charger. So I can just plug it in without removing the seat if I want to charge it at home. I installed a toggle switch in the gage cluster, although I did not take a picture of the finished work, for a main power switch. Jeff |

Thanks for the pics guys and all the help. I ended up mounting attached the seat, fits really well.
I don't know for sure yet because I haven't had a chance to put a meter to it. But I am pretty sure my battery is not charging. If you look at my wiring diagram I have the white wire on the stator going to a yellow wire on the trailtech Rectifier/Regulator...but shouldn't I need a ground or reference for the AC side going into the Rec/Reg?

Hey Brian,
Check this link out. http://trailtech.net/tech_support_stators.html Between this link, the support there and the people on the forum I worked it out. I have not checked but I reckon from memory that The black from RECREG(RR),went to battery then ground. The red went to the positive of the battery and also through a fuse to lights etc. The two yellows I reckon I hooked up to the white and the yellow. As per trailtech diagram. Good luck and have fun, Mark |

Hmmm I thought I remember reading here that white and yellow are out of phase being connected to a different number of windings...
Time to reread that thread. Being that it is the only wire left it is the logical choice. I think if I hadn't spent so much time reading about this I would be done already....

As far as I know you don't want to hook both wires together to a light for example but when going into a rectifier the rectifier will just rectify the voltage on each phase.
The blue wire on the rec/reg is a current limiter which I did not use. Good luck, Mark |

By the way , I have done the floating ground mod on the stator though.
