You should have between 160 to 190 psi.
The throttle has to held wide open while kicking the bike over.

The initial test should be done dry.
Oil is added to rule out rings as part of the diagnostic steps.

Checked two new 250s (one a 2010, the other a 2011) and each registered within a hair of 190 psi nominally dry (only the gas mixture in the cylinder, no additional oil) when new.

My 300 always gave 150 (and runs perfectly FWIW) , I may be tempted to take some base gaskets out to increase this, can anyone tell me where I'd feel the difference in power?

i am only running the thinnest base gasket - bumped my compression up really high....i can only run 110 octane now. not that's a bad thing

Stainless - yes my guess was going to be use the thinnest base gasket as well.

What differences did you notice? Is it better in the wet and dry? Any better starting?

dunno if it's any better - only way i've ever done it (built the motor from 2 parts motors, and only had the thinnest base gasket available when i did it...)

i know this, it pings if i run regular 93. i mix 50/50 110/93 and no pinging. i had already retarded the timing slightly.

it starts first kick everytime and chugs right along. i haven't checked the squish, but my guess is it 's 1.2mm or less...
