Default EC 250 08 settings

I know the 08 models have different (stiffer) settings but I'll just post how I have set my bike:

Forks: Compression 19 out, rebound 6 out, Forks 5mm up

Shock: HS Compression 21 out, LS 1 1/2 out, Rebound 20 out

Race sag 110-112mm, Static 30-32mm (Spring set as GMP states)

Weight 190 lbs Height 5' 11", Steering on front holes.

Bike rides perfect, reads all the small rocks and roots but never bottoms out, turns on a dime after I moved steering to front position, really stable through fast woops. Overall its the best bike I have ridden!

Thanks for the set up I checked mine and we are all most exactly the same.I'm set at 22 comp and 10 rebound on the forks can't recall the rear but I know we were very close all the way around.I love the way it rides just not a lot of experience with suspension tuning.So I was looking for a reference to see if i was close Thanks GG27.Mike

Silver depending on how much you weigh depends on if you need a revalve & springs or not.

I just got my suspension back from Les at LT-Racing and the bike is a real hoot to ride now.

The first question is how much do you weigh?

Hey Mike,

Are you still riding Nick's old bike? I would suspect that he may have revalved the forks and shock. I'm on a '07 EC250 now. I will check my settings and report them back. Note: mine were revalved by previous owner by Jay Hall (Hall's cycle). It will be interesting to see where mine compare.

Here are my adjuster settings...

Front Forks:
Comp = 12 out
Reb = 6 out

Rear Shock:
Comp Low = 19 out
Comp High = 15 out
Reb = 7 out

Note: I change a few clicks from here depending upon trail conditions.

--------------------

Here are my sag settings....

Front Fork:
Static Sag (bike only) = 35mm
Race Sag = 50mm (sitting) , 58mm (standing)

Rear Shock:
Static Sag (bike only) = 49mm
Race Sag = 110mm (sitting), 105mm (standing)

Race Sag includes: helmet, boots, chest protector, but no water or tools.
I weigh about 165lb, so add 15lbs for the gear mentioned above.

Well, don't be afraid to play with the adjusters. It's simple to turn them back to the original position. How else will you truely learn what they do for you and your bike?

One thing I found is if you raise the forks in the triple clamps it has two effects:
1) Quicker turning (but can increase headshake - I run a steering damper so it's a non issue).
2) Makes the forks feel softer. I've had issues with them being too stiff (0.43 springs, I weigh around 170lbs) in the rocks, but raising the forks and backing off the compression made all the difference in the world.

I am looking for some info on GG EC250 1998 model.

I have just fitted a set of 45 shivers off a 07 bike, the rear shock is a standard ohlins from my 98 bike with rebound and compression adjustment.

With my old forks on the bike was set up with the static sag (rear) was 100 mm. with this when i mounted the bike both the front and rear squatted evenly. It was a nice ride short of the jumps which had me off a few times due to the excessive free bleed in the old magnums. (my opinion)

With the new forks the bike squats at the rear when mounted. Before I Start adjusting things i thought i would ask if the rear shock spring and shock would be compatible with the front forks

Also would it be advisable to set the preload on the forks first.

I have read a lot about setting the static sag and race sag mostly on the rear suspension, What would the preload be on the front fork springs??
The previous owner of the forks said that they were set up plush,

any help is always appreciated.
