Gasgas roadshow in Sweden

Oh, my! The Swedish importer set up a road show with six bikes. Our local dealer just signed to join the Gasgas train, and got them to stop at our track. We got to beat the sh.. out of them Gassers.

All bikes had the Mz CC forks and Ohlins shock, except the standard EC300, which had the standard Marzocchis and a Sachs shock.

Track was mostly single trail with roots and lots of mud and rocks, very tight corners. There were also a section more mx like, wider and quicker, with some natural whoopies. All the bikes had factory setup on springs, so they all were a little light to me. In the tight trails it didnt matter much, was more obvious in the open faster sections where it got a little bouncy when speed increased.

The bike that gave me the biggest surprise was the 250F. Very very easy to ride, suspension smooth as riding on a sea of pillows, and power delivery was decent all down low and up throuh the rev range. I have ridden a few Yammies, but they were nothing like this one, they were more sluggish and weak, especially in the lower range.

The 300F was also a nice bike, at first I could not tell the difference from the 250F, but when I got out in the open, the extra power was evident. Apart from the extra power, this was the same smooth ride as the 250F. A lot of the guys doin both mx and enduros thought the 250F was underpowered, and liked the 300F much better.
The 450F was too much for these conditions, at least for me. Too much power from down low, making it difficult to handle in the tight stuff.

The twostrokes needed a little clear up jetting wise, and was taken aside for a quick jetting change. After that the power was delivered as it should, Gasgas wise. Smooth tractable power from way down low. I heard a lot of praise on the twostroke engines today, from diehard "other bike" fans. The 300's performed as they should, however my 2010 still shines just as well engine wise. The 250 power delivery was a bit too pipey for me, didnt suit my riding style in these messy muddy turns. However I heard many people saying the opposite, that the 250 was not as howling fast on the pipe as the 300, making them dare open up the trottle more.

What really was the big difference to my bike was the forks. Sweet sweet smoth action CC forks. Me wants. Unfortunately there was no demo bike with the TTX forks, so I have to dream of testing a set of those a bit longer.

All in all I must say this demo was a success, the six bikes were running non stop for six hours, new pilots wanted to try them all. And the fact that my favourite dealer has picked up Gasgas is a nice bonus.

That would be a nice Size bike.. I'd still like to try a gg 250f to see if that would be what I really need in the woods.

Me too. I know from riding the Yamahas they work very well when the going gets slick. Don't think I'd like it in the sand as much though. Who knows? At Hancock, there were a couple fast older guys with us (older than me) on WR250Fs that gave me fits even on the hills. You don't get as tired because they don't pull as hard, feel slow but hook up and are very effective. I should get a 250F for Shane so I can ride it and scratch that itch.

I Wish the Danish Importer was as serious as his Swedish brother...,
But our Importer does not even want to sell bikes, even if you flash the money in front of him, he will just turn his back and walk away..

Maybe that's why there's almost no gassers in DK..

They are coming to Haessleholm in two weeks, thats just 80 km from Malmoe.
