Much much better, but still feels as though it gets through the stroke quite easy (I tried backing off rebound) and the high speed portion...

So I'm guessing what I should do is create a mid valve, and soften the base valve a little?

I will live with it for a bit, definitely a much better feeling, actually able to pump the track a bit more (tight woods, lots of climbs), feels like it's not going to tuck in the snot anyore, and much better putting the power down, less loss of traction on hill climbs.

Can anyone tell me the internal diameter of the shims so I can get some in the future... And if possible where in the UK or Europe they can be found?

I did do, it's made it tonnes better but the square edges still feel harsh.

Anyone know the shim internal diameter?

Cheeky to link another forum (givafuk), but I've managed to salvage some information from thumpertalk that could be used for future reference here...

I just found a nice thread on revalving the 45mm Marzocchi Shivers and Sachs shock on Cafe Husky. It has pictures and a nice discussion and final outcome. This should help you out.

I myself wouldn't bother with the Marzocchi 45's at all. A set of Showa or KYB twin chamber forks with triple clamps and front wheel can be found for what it costs to buy springs and a revalve for the Marzocchis, and either the Showas or KYBs will work way better, be easier to get parts for, and they're easy to install..

Regarding the link posted above about the shim sizes:
https://thumpertalk.com/forums/topic...45-shim-sizes/

Terry Hay provided a good tip today on how to reduce friction inside the Marzocchi forks by machining the bush lands.

I think mine are already done from factory. Where the larger bush that snaps into the internal stanchion sits, either end there is a slight undercut about 1.5mm wide and 0.5mm deep, it is TiN coated like the rest of the fork... I take this is what you mean?

Righty, I've flipped my bike over and removed the base valves, I found one fork leg had 1 less shim which worries me, anyway this is where it was,

14x0.1
22x0.15
22x0.15
11x0.1
17x0.1
16x0.1
14x0.15
14x0.1
12x0.2
12x0.2
12x0.2

And I'm now going to go to,

22x0.15
22x0.15
14x0.15
11x0.1
17x0.1
16x0.1
14x0.1
12x0.2
12x0.2
12x0.2

Nothing drastic, but I'm hoping it will be a bit firmer on the smooth, and plusher on the not so smooth...
