How do they look?
The pictures are of the old reed and the new reed that came in the parts box.

I am cleaning the carb, figured I would take these out for inspection. What are the recommendations? Will the short ones work while I learn a bit more then put the new ones in later, or are they shot. |

They are shot. See how the corners are rounded and frayed? Where the ones on the left are nice and square

This is all learning. I read some post and some google searches that had some that looked like mine and people said they still had life in them. So I just wanted to check here.

The ones on the left are two stage reeds the top peddle is smaller than the bottom so it may be an optical illusion. I would take them off an look at the edges and mating surface. If they have crack or if they are not smooth on the mating surfaces, you should replace them. If you are in a bind you might be able to flip them over so you have a new mating surface.
