I was wondering that too but after looking at it a couple of times I figure it was the speed of the camera effect. Same as sometimes seen with planes or helicopters rotor appearing not to be turning in a video...just my thoughts.

Ever mounted a helmet cam to your head and seen the footage?

Helmet fixed in the same spot the whole time

Both with the Gro pro and the VIO POV. A little movement of the helmet is noticed but generally its very still. If the camera and helmet are fixed together then there will be no visible change in their positions regardless of where you move your head.

If he was using the 170 degree fish eye it would make any ridge look like a knife edge.. the 170 makes almost every trail look like its on top of a mountain.. you film on top and it has to make it look like an epic mountain..

Old hardpacked snow doesn't throw up in the air, it just lets the knobs sink in but not the whole tire, it gives amazing grip even if the tires aren't studded, we often ride that kind of snow here in Iceland, it amazes me how steep a hill one can climb in that kind of situation, a lot of fun. I have a gopro and in my images the lens exaggerates a lot.
At around 0:48 in this vid the hill looks crazy steep, it is steep believe me, but not as it looks on the vid from the gopro

If you look at some of his other vids you can get an idea of how steep it is as he slides down the side, about a 1:1,5 slope, but the gopro does exaggerate it. Basically if he missed the line he would slide al the way down but not too much damage

This video has gone viral, was even mentioned on ECR radio news (durban, South africa) the other day!

Based on the view at the end of the video, my guess it's in the badlands and probably in Alberta because of the snow. It looks like he is riding a well beaten path; hence I think he is riding trails around the area where the Xtinction extreme enduro is held. Here is a clip of some footage from the race:

As H0TR0Dn mentioned, it might be fake, he made a good point about no snow on the front tire. It's been a while since I rode in the snow, but if this is on a cold day in the badlands, it's really dry snow in those parts, so it does not stick to tires.

I could go either way with this. Its a very good fake if fake, so I'll take it back and say its likely real. Probably just the way the wheel speed is synched with the frame rate that makes it look almost perfectly still. I don't see that on my videos riding close behind someone, but I understand how it could be. The camera lens and mount issues are obvious. The 170 deg lens makes the ridge look sick from the top, but would make a climb up look easier.
