Default Need Help with purchase EC300

Greetings, esteemed community.
I'm new here, wishing to become a gas gas owner.
It's is exzotic ride in my country - no dealers, no parts, just a few of riders. But i like this kind of thing being)
And ther is only one bike to buy (for my money), so question is to buy it, or not to buy it.
So i asking help - what should i inspekt the most, reviewing it?
It is EC300 2011 model, in good conditions (by tha photo), with 320km of run. Owner say that wasn't been in use since 2014.

IMHO the 2011 was a great model year as far as quality of build went.
If the price is good I'd go for it.

That is very few kilometers on a bike. If it hasn't been run since 2014 and wasn't set up to be stored for a long time you'll want to take the carburetor apart and clean it very well, also a new air filter will probably be required. Inspect and grease all wheel bearings, swing arm linkage bearings, steering head bearings, and inspect and replace the brake and fork oil, as well as the gearbox oil. (all standard work on any bike you buy used) Then get out and RIDE!

If the E-start is giving you a hard time working there are threads that will show you how to modify it to work much better.

Have fun and post up some pictures of the bike. We all like pictures..

Hi Rampart,

I would estimate that inspections of that GasGas would be the same as any other inspection of a pre-owned dirtbike. From my reading I believe 2011 is a very good bike. I'm sure owners of that model year will chime in here and fill you in on any quirks and their remedies.

I don't think you'll have many issues with sourcing parts, there are many great dealers and parts outlets that will ship globally. More importantly these bike are generally very reliable and overbuilt. It's just a matter of time until GasGas has a dealer there anyway.

I congratulate you on your decision to buy outside of the Orange Ocean. Part of the value, and enjoyment, of these bikes is their boutique and exotic nature. I hope to welcome you the the global GasGas family soon.

The seller provided a video of the launch, and the work as I requested. Tomorrow I go to him, I hope to return with a motorcycle. It seems that it is necessary to change the piston, and the light went out after idle time. In the rest it looks like a motorcycle in good condition.

It looks pretty clean. 320hrs is a normal amount of use for 2011 so I would suggest top and bottom end rebuild (unless bottom was done recently)

No e-start so no battery, lights will only work when the engine is running

Unless I'm missing something I read 320km's. Not 320hrs. No need for bottom or top end rebuild at that point. You could be correct and it was a mistake in translation though.

Could you clarify Rampart if it is 320km's or 320hrs?

I love my 2011. Never had a hour meter on it but I have about 7000miles on it. Just installed a yz 2008 front end and it is still going strong. It has been very reliable. The only time it has left me in the hills is when I have ran out of gas.

If that is the case it is brand new! It should snr almost ready for its first oil change.

Call me a sceptic but even though it looks very clean I believe the hours are higher than that based on the rubbing on the clutch cover and the rear tyre is not the oem one. Still looks in good condition

Only thing to change would be the handlebar mounted choke it is bound to give you problems at some stage
