Default kickstarter

i recently bought a 250mc 2002 gasser
great bike just 1 problem
the kickstarter hits the clutchcover, resulting in a crack in the cover
has anybody had the same problem ?
have i got the wrong kickstarter ?

Just take it off and advance it clockwise a couple of degrees. As far as the crack in the cover, some JB Weld will fix that up fine.

is it hitting the clutch cover on the downswing? it should hit the peg before it hits the clutch cover,or you have the wrong kicker on it

If the kicker is in the correct position, I wonder if there's a return stop inside the cover. With an issue like this, it would pay to take the clutch cover off (not the little one, the whole right side). Take a look at the return mechanism and see if there's a bump stop inside there, or a place where one should be.

Indeed, if it's hitting on the return stroke, it seems as if you'd just rotate the kick starter back one spline. Too bad you're not local, because I've had these apart lots of times, and I could help. It's just been a while and I've never messed with the starter.
