2018 300 chain tension
Manual calls for 30-36 mm between chain and swing arm with the bike on the kickstand. This seems very tight to me. If the rear wheel travels up it is tight as a banjo string. Is this measurement right? Has anyone had problems with this?
Is it supposed to be measured from the chain to the top of the chain guard and not the swingarm? |

Absolute best way to do it is to get the bike on a stand so the rear wheel is off the ground, drop a linkage bolt out so you can lift the swing arm up freely and get the rear axle, swing arm pivot bolt and front sprocket in line. This is the tightest the chain gets so give yourself a little slack here, say about 5mm. Drop it back down put the linkage bolt back in and measure the slack now with the wheel off the ground. What ever it it is now is the tightest you should ever set it.

You should get three fingers under the chain unless you've hands like Hulk. That's about 53 to 56 millimeters if you prefer to measure it. Measure on different parts of the chain and dont forget that the lower part of the chain must be tight... |

Meh I just stick 3 fingers(between swingarm top & bottom of chain) behind chain slider whilst on a stand.
