So I can work backwords, what is a fair price for a clean complete 2004 EC200 that is in running condition?
Sorry, I meant the purchase price of this bike needing a new bottom end needs to be under $1k
Bike is worth 1200-2000 in running condition IMO

Thank you all for the great info. I am going to check it out later today and see if it is a good deal.

Gasser - If we were not 600 miles apart I would be more interested.

If I could find a running 200 within 600 miles for $900 I would drive to get it. At 12 MPG that is 50 gallons, which is $200 in gas, but that is still pretty cheap.

Well we picked up the local bike for my son. While the crank needs a rebuild the bike is very clean and has a clear title. It came with a nice box of spare and new parts (including ones I needed for my bike). The bike is well outfitted with new plastic, big tank, pipe and disc guards as well as aftermarket pegs. It makes very good compression and the cylinder looked ok, through the exhaust port, but I need to pull it to see for sure. I got the bike for well under $1k.

Now the fun starts! We just finished dinner and we are going to start to pull the engine.

You'll be done before the ice cream dessert melts. Save room for cold bevs after.

So Far So Good. The cylinder looks pretty good with no significant issues. The connecting rod big end is JUNK! I have never seen one with 1/8 inch of play before. We will split the cases tomorrow!
