Sachs front end bouncy? Harsh? Read.

Never could dial that Sachs front end in on my 2011 300 ec........ Always felt bouncy, squirrelly, harsh, especially at faster speed until....... I discovered that the fork height indication groves were different than one another by about 1/8th of an inch. So, I have been riding the bike with the forks set at uneven heights, due to me trusting in the machined in fork height indicator groves,which I am assuming was causing most of my front in troubles because after I took a tape to the forks and leveled them up, the difference is night and day. It is kinda neat to become a better rider instantly hehe. Having front end problems? Break out the tape first.

Did you ever experience any issues with the front axel being a pain to get in and out as well? I can imagine it would be quite harsh. Did you just measure from the top of the fork to the triple?

No problems removing front axle. And yes, I measured from top of triple to the top of each fork.

surely the only difference with having one fork higher than the other is that one side will have slightly more preload than the other? On the set of Enduro Engineering .44 springs i got for my bike there was more than this difference in the length of the springs.

I understand your point about the small height difference seeming trivial, but I could tell a difference the first ride down the driveway after setting the forks to equal heights.
