Replacement Marzocchi forks?
So, last weekend I purchased my first GasGas (a 2005 EC300), and in fact my first motorcycle in about 20 years. Sadly though, as I was driving my truck home with the GasGas loaded onto a hitch mount carrier, I was rear-ended. The forks are tweaked and may need to be replaced.
It looks like GoFasters has the OEM Marzocchi forks for ~$2500. Is this my best option? Is that a reasonable price for this part? Will other forks fit the EC300 (aside form the hyper-expensive Ohlins)? |

That really sucks.
Watch this site in the buy/sell listings. Somebody is always parting out a bike it seems. There are also forks listed on E-Bay quite often. search "gasgas" and "gas-gas" to find all the listings. And chances are somebody here will see your thread and reply with some for sale. Good luck.

Try to get used if you can, they do come up from time to time.
The guy I bought my bike from on here, Ryno I think, had a set he wanted to sell me when I picked the bike up back in September. I know he had some friends on here that may be able pass it along. You could do a search and then PM him as well. If that doesn't work out for you call the suspension shops to see if any one is selling there spares or if they have abandon items. They may be able to tell you what else will fit as well. Good Luck

If the forks are bent, the clamps most certainly are as well, and possibly the axel. Depends on how it was hit. Sometimes this is not so noticable on the bike. Remove everything and inspect it on a true flat surface like a glass plate. I tagged a tree head on with a KTM300 and the only thing not bent in the front end was the fork.

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions. It sounds like insurance may cover damage to the bike. They want me to take it to a shop for evaluation. Time will tell...

If the forks are bent from the accident the insurance company will total the bike. They do not want the back side liability if there's even the slightest chance of frame damage. Bent forks automatically put it in this category.
Book value on the bike is higher than you can buy one for. Hello 07/08 EC300.

Seems like given that one would want to make sure they were bent before having them looked at. A huge cheater bar seems in order.
