Default No lights or horn

Hello all
I went out at the weekend on my ec250 2003 for the second time and when i got back realized i had no lights or horn but the bike was running fine.I removed the fly wheel cover and found that some water drained out .My question is will the stator dry out or will i need to get the stator rewound or could there be another problem .I have ordered a flywheel removal tool so i haven't seen what state the electrics are in yet.
thanks for any help you can give.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe if the bike will run there is nothing wrong with your stator. Also a little water in there is not going to cause any problems but you may want to put a little grease on the gasket when you put your cover back on. I am pretty sure your problem is somewhere else

There is more than one function to the stator. Only one of the windings is used to run the engine. The others generate power for lighting. It is possible to have problems with lighting and still have it run.

It is more likely that you have a broken wire somewhere. Search older posts and find the ohms measurements for the stator. You can unhook the stator wires and quickly check the readings with a multimeter. As long as they are roughly close, the stator should function.

Leave the cover off and have a small space heater blow on the area to dry it out. If you take the yellow wire from the stator and connect it to a small 12V light bulb (ground the bulb housing), the bulb should flicker when you crank the engine over.
