Clay,

Don't forget to measure the steering head to see if its the same dia as the '11, so we know if the KTM clamp on towers will still fit. Thanks.

I think guys are making too big of a deal about the air filter. Yeah, it'll take a few minutes to change, but in reality, almost nobody has to be a in a hurry to swap them.

To make things easier, just cut a 1" thick layer of oiled foam so that it fits the shape of the airbox above the Air filter.

Make 2 of them so they can be easily swapped in a really dusty race. That will save having to swap the air filter in a hurry or frequently.

Are these the same pegs or peg manufacturer/materials as the 2011 bikes?

Did the bike have the skidplate?

LOL, Rocher!! That was good!!!
I put the damn thing together in the parking lot at the Delta freight office in Atl while dodging trucks and fork lifts. Tomorrow I will put the rest of the stuff on.

have you had a stab at changing the airfilter? I believe this is the Achilles heel of the bike
I did just to see how hard it was.
One bolt to get the seat off.
Four bolts to get the battery box out of the way.
Then there is a huge opening to actually take the a/f out of the box.
With electric tools it is only slightly slower than the older bikes.

I spent the day finishing up serviving my bike for the National Enduro this weekend and then really looking the '12 over. It's a neat bike. I plan to take some photos of thing that have been improved and send pics of those with some notes. I may start a new thread with that stuff. A few examples:
You can adjust pre-load without removing the shock.
There is one bolt in the rear of the right rear number plate that holds the number plate and rear mount of the spark arrestor. Then you can swing the number plate out and detach it to get to the rest of the spark arrestor or to other parts of the bike. The left side number plate removes in the same way.
The side stand has a heavy mounting tab as does the rear brake lever.
The chain roller is separate from the side stand mount and none of that will have to be removed to get to the linkage.
The seat removes with one bolt from the bottom (like the oranage bike) and has no other spacers/washers to keep up with.
Two bolts mount the skid plate instead of three.
Magura clutch lever.
More common fasteners.
The choke is still cable operated but there is a pull type carb mounted choke included in the crate.
The pegs are still the old style BUT the bike is taller and has more ground clearance. This may be a negative to some guys that like the shorter seat height but the bike should not suffer the damage the old bikes did in rocks.
The rear brake pedal is sweeeet! I don't think it will fit the older bikes but it may.
