Default First Cross Country Race

This past Sunday I raced our first race of the season and my first one since '04! I finished 8th out of 14 in the SuperVet Class (+48) , not bad but I should have done better. I missed the first dead check (unmanned) and had to back track 3.2km to get back to it. I was riding in 3rd at the time. I also crashed way too many times, my right arm is black and blue from the elbow out and my left thumb is swollen from a crash riding on Sat. I'm disappointed but glad also. I am not sure when I'll race again this year, I can't hit every race on the schedule.
Claude

Great job Claude! keep it up and you wont make those little mistakes that cost you big like the unmanned check. Just chalk that up as being rusty.

Well I raced my second event this year on Sunday. It was a Hare Scramble in the same area as the CC last month, Porcupine Hills, AB. The course was 25km and I raced the Super Vet class again. This time I rode much better and got 6th, I had 4th but had my only crash on the last (3rd) lap and 2 guys got by me. The course was lots of fun, beautiful loamy trails, not as many rocks as I usually ride on and no dust! It did start to drizzle on the last lap but not enough to be bothersome, when that area gets wet it is like grease! I finished with a time of 2h45m about 15 minutes behind the winner of my class, a local. I still know I can do better but my racing shape is still not there. Here are some pics.
