Default fuel tank pick up

Hi lads, I drained my fuel tank on my 2012 ec300r and I did realise that the fuel pick up stands about 100mm from the bottom of the tank. I assume that it is so no contaminates enter the carbie. That is fine but there is a lot of fuel that you can not access when you need it on the trail.

What mods has people done or is it best to leave it standard?

thank you in advance.

Althogh I haven't looked inside my own Gasgas tank for a while, what you describe sounds quite normal for most motorcycle tanks (apart from bikes with fuel pumps, Efi etc). The lower 100mm is for the "reserve" position of the petcock. When turned to "reserve", the pickup point is quite close to the bottom of the tank.

thank you. I have come from a number for 4 stroke efi bikes and now I have to find my feet with a two stroke again.' I was unaware of the reserve as I did not receive a manual with the bike.

thanks again

The 100mm stand pipe is the main fuel feed port.
Flip it to reserve and fuel will be fed by the secondary port.
