I wear the same gear, wet or dry. I will get wet with sweat or rain, doesn't matter, but I don't want to overheat. If it's super cold and dry, I will wear a pressure suit under a vented jersey, otherwise it's a vented jersey, waterproof pants for cold rainy/mud race, vented pants for warm rain race, and outer protection (elbow guards and chest protector).

I wore a rain proof jacket ONCE during a race, got too hot in spite of the 30*(F) weather. Now it's vented gear every race, I adjust pants for temperature. If it's super cold I wear an undershirt, but that's not typical.

Just checked the rows for sandlapper, looks like three of my riding buds are on the row behind you. 44cde Wish I had signed up.
Have fun.

Hey thanks hamilton. Looks like the weather will be better than expected. They look to be getting some rain now. Only 30% for sunday at 48 degrees. Looking forward to some fun riding.

A wetsuit vest under body armour maybe. Had a pe175 with a milk crate and rod holder I used to go fishing up the beach for Taylor with ( type of fish you catch off the beach in wet cold weather) and used to wear a wetsuit to go fishing in. Kept me nice and warm regardless of how wet I got. Live in the tropics now though. Just a thought.

You know? I'm not sure that's not a bad idea.

If you try to race in a wet suit you will sweat your @$$ off! They are fine for sitting & fishing but put one on and go for a jog....whole different world. A wet suit is designed to let water in & trap it against your body to preserve body heat while diving....you'll need air after a bit of riding My .02 worth

I meant lightweight vest for surfing not a full length steamer for diving. It would still need to be really really cold though.

I used to cut weight with a wet suit. I would take off in 0-15 degrees Fahrenheit and run a few miles. The sweat pours after a few minutes of exercise. The practice is illegal in Minnesota.

Just a vest seems better, and probably worth a shot. Worst case the sweat pours down into your pants, I'm sure it's not dangerous. Not sure I would try it in a race setting the first time.
