stack height would make drag less. but if you go too far it will slip. less stack height = less drag. make sure your slave is bled well.

Yes, I'll report here before stacking my deck.
My slave should be well bled, but I did notice a good tip in a recent thread to feather the clutch a little while doing the bleeding (from bottom up with syringe). I did not feather the clutch, so I guess I was just forcing fluid past the (brand new) seals I wish would take any and all forces.

Anyway, yeah...
there are people here with trained eyes.
And then I'm here to represent the other end of the spectrum.

AA riders wil not get GG over the top.
I'm a solid mid-pack C rider.
Mostly becuase they don't have D riders.
But I have AA fun when I get the chance to ride.

I really love my Gas Gas.

<edit>P.S. These true confessions are the result of too many hours at the pub.

My rekluse started slipping very badly this past weekend. even 1st gear starts the think was slipping an squawking like crazy. I am going to bob the webbing off of the clutch basket this week. Not sure if I should take the entire bit out or just drill a decent sized hole? it is in a 300, so I am worried about the fingers failing without the extra support. but riding it is very difficult when you don't know when it is going to grab or slip.

can't you cure rekluse slip by adjusting gap? or was it slipping at high rpm's?

They say that the PP adjustment is for fine tuning, I am pretty much out of that neighborhood. I have the PP set where they say, 1 turn +3. There must be something fundamentally different in the dynamics, the KTM 300 has the same setup, never an issue in over 2 years and it has been run hard. the GasGas has maybe 40 hours on it be it slipped and squawked since day one withe the Core EXP.

Question Are there two different basket designs for the 300?

I have a 2011 300 and I'm having issues getting the correct basket.
On the following image you can see bottom right stock basket.
Bottom left aftermarket basket from a 2002 300
And top is the new current Barnett basket.

NOTE:
Part # for Barnett is correct
Hole for pinion gear is about 6mm too big
Tab for rubber damper is also the wrong shape and larger than the stock tab.
Spoke with Barnett today and they said that my basket is different than their stock GasGas basket?
They said to go ahead and send the basket back.

Are there two basket designs?
If so, are there two pinions designs, since the diameter of the hole on the Barnett (on the right) is clearly larger?

In this last picture you can see the gap between the pinon gear and the basket.

Here is my guess. They gave you the wrong basket somehow. There also must be two styles of damper tabs as the 08 i just took apart had tabs like the barnet basket.

Thats the 08 basket. ID of center hole 46mm

Great now I'm concerned, let me know what you find out Howie.
I have a Barnett on the way but still have not pulled off my 11's oem basket to see what design I have.

Question Two baskets

Paul's post seems to confirm that there are two baskets.
Barnett only shows one part # on their site and I'm not getting any additional info from Barnett other than return the basket for a refund vis a vie Gofasters.

Unfortunately for you Roscoe, you won't know what the shape of the tabs are until you take off the pinon gear.

Mine (2011 EC 300) looks like yours on the left. I cut some of the webbing between the fingers down, every other one. I was drilling them to allow more oil but the bit dug in and snapped one, so I dremeled every other one off. I did that, added the o-rings on the back of the inner hub and the squawk seems to have lessened. I have not been able to ride it hard due to the recovering from rotator cuff and a bent wrist, but it is not nearly as noisy as before!
