With an angle grinder, drill, and $1 worth of steel from my scrap bin, I'd be much more inclined to just make a tab.
That YZ bracket appears to be cast. I've never had good luck welding cast parts to cold-rolled. Depending on what filler rod your welder used, you may get decent results. Glad you've got it back together!
