Default Coastal BC ride report - Chipmunk Creek 091115

I was excited to go back to Chipmunk after racing there last in 2003.
24Todd, Clay, Tuxedo Dave and I had breakfast at White Spot then drove to the first snow-covered pit on Foley Cr. FSR. Glad to have the propane heater and the tent, we quickly suited up and got going.
In spite of the rain, the ride was fabulous! Great trails (fun and all different) in a great network make for a good day out! We suffered a couple times cutting out blow-down or heaving our bikes under larger trees barring the trail. We also got challenged by a nice little uphill that combined loose grape-fruit-sized river rocks at the bottom followed by an off-camber slippery clay top... Everybody had two or three runs to get to the clay then had to dig toes in and push the bikes up the rest of the way...
Everybody except Tuxedo Dave, who traded in his turtle shell for a driving front wheel (Christini) and made it up first try after having to stop half-way up for us to get out of the way.
We rode neat trails lined with football-sized rocks taking us along the river past some beautiful spots where kayakers were playing in the standing waves.
Todd found "Curtis" trail which hadn't been ridden for almost 2 years - it was like bushwacking through the jungle - a whole lot of fun. "3 Bears" was an awesome trail with superb flow and an endless series of switchbacks. And to finish the day off, we squided out in the gravel pits just for fun.

What was that noise behind us deep in the jungle???

Looking for some extra protein to carry on with the ride...

Proudly displaying his better side - the side the BCORMA sticker is on!
