MC CDI on an EC300, anybody try it?
My experience has been that trail models perk up well with MX mapped CDI's,
but still keep good trail manners. Gear selection dictates temperament. Here in SoCal this prolly makes more sense than say for woods only riders. Most of the tight stuff ridden includes serious climbs. Seems to be the only way to get to or return from the low use, technical trails. Yeah, I know a lighter FW is available, but there are benefits to keeping that mass. |

With the 250 CDI and reed spacer removed it will be an animal. Probably good to keep the 2K-3, at least at first.

Another reason to use a G2. Will likely try to wire up both CDI's with a switch. I find the way to avoid animal mode is ride a gear up. Then down shift for the beast factor. Last edited by socalscott; 07-17-2008 at 01:36 AM. Reason: cuz |

My 06 ec250 apparently has an MC ignition. I don't know if that means the CDI is changed or if the whole ignition is different. Whatever it has, I love it. At first I thought the handlebar map switch was a gimmic but for nasty slick hills I keep it in the rain position and when traction is at a premium i use the sunny selection. It seems to help smooth out the power delivery a little.

Whould putting in a MC250 CDI do anything for a 2002 EC250? I am looking for more mid range and top end without killing my rotating mass. I have the LTR power valve cover and LTR jetting kit, and i am getting a FMF Gnarly pipe, and the RB-desiengs mods. I feel after those mods i will have a ton of bottom end power anyways.
So whould ai gain anything from a MC250 CDI?

For more mid and top end, go for the DOMA pipe.
The RB Designs bored out carb will do wonders for your top end power. |

I dont want a DOMA because its not very strong from my research.

Which c.d.i's are you guys refering to? Both my 01 ec300 and 03 mc 250 have the same part # and same red heat shrink on the wiring harness. Ive swapped them around and have felt no discernable differance in how the bikes run. Do you proponents of this mod have any tangable proof as to how these c.d.i's differ or is this a year specific thing?

Widebear- I think the shrink wrap color is the definitive marking.
2 Strokes-Find an 05-06 OEM pipe, very similar to a Doma but beefy like a ganrly GGMAN- I have been wanting more overrev/topend lately. Of the two RB mods the carb is the way to go for this? |

That RB wing will provide serious mid bark. One of those installed on my old '92 KX250 transformed it to SX powerband. The '92 made it's power 1000 rpm later than any bike that year. |
