Default I kept it...

I used to have a 1990 KTM 250 DXC. It had an interesting feature, that I really miss. After I wrecked it, yes there's video, we transplanted the engine onto a go-cart. I did keep the one redeeming feature...The centerstand. Has anyone ever seen a stand like this on a dirtbike? It was so easy to park...anywhere. I think all bikes should have one. I'm pretty sure my Gasser will, soon. I was digging around the shop, and found it...I'd forgotten that I kept it.

I've got one sitting in my shop as well, it came off of a 2003 KTM 250 4 stroke.... I'd be interested to see how your install progresses. It would be a good addition to the gasser..

That could be easily integrated into an alloy skid plate, so it comes off easy and no frame welding. I don't think it would last long here though.

TMs used to have centre stands up to '99, I think (no one noticed, they were laughing at the pink plastics)

Don't the big KTMs like the 640 and 690 have centre stands ?

Yup.. My 640 has a center stand, it works great most everywhere. Uneven ground can be a problem but takes a second or so to find a good spot..

Ed....

I remember pink TM's. I wanted one back then! 1994-1996. The 1996 model was very striking in pink and black with an awesome looking hand built aluminum fuel tank. A buddy of mine had one, and I loved the center stand. I told him often that I was going to steal it.

It would be very simple to build one, especially, as stated above, on an aluminum skid plate.

Thats a great suggestion. I'll have to build a whole new plate(easy). I'll have to mull it over(clearances, mounting points, etc.). If I can't figure out how to tuck it so that there's not an extra inch of material, then I'll probably skip it. It was so handy on the KTM, while pulling off wheels to fix flats (I've had all of one).

Yes I remember the TM's having them and thinking, that is a great idea! Hey who's laughing at the pink! My first Gasser (1997) I believe was pretty sickly looking with decals falling off as it came out of the crate and pink and purple if I remember right. Funny thing 2nd gear rollons it would beat a 98 YZ 250 all this with a horn and blinkers!!!!!!!! Great stand . But porky (12 and up) gassers need some diet 7-up!!!
