Default Handlebars, which holes?

Which holes do you mount the standard risers in, towards the front or rear of the bike? I'm 6', but I'm finding high risers are killing me, my bars are currently mounted in the forward holes, is there any benefit to using the rear? It seems the grips need to be in line with the fork legs, so the bars would have to be tilted right over to accommodate this... But better access to the rebound adjuster!

I tried the forward holes, but never could get used to it. I feel my bike handles better in the rear holes, but can't explain it haha.
Best setup for me @ 5'11" is "CR High" bend bars with 1/2" riser blocks underneath.

It surprises me that that is the general concensus, seeing as everyone recommends "in line with forks", surely that mount puts them nearly an inch closer to the rider, unless tilted all the way over forward?

Pictures would be appreciated

I think the common recommendation of having the bars "in line with the forks" is referring to the angle of the rise section of the bars being the same as the fork angle... not actually having the grips lined up above the fork tubes. Not sure if this was a misunderstanding?

Sweep of the bars has a large impact on this too, but I never go forward of the "0" mark on my bars, which is about where they end up with the rise section being "in line with the forks" or more accurately, the angle of the rise at about the same angle the fork tubes have. Any further forward, and I get weird wrist pain and arm pump.
My bars are also cut, and I found that a narrower bar at the same height had a similar effect to installing more rise.

I found using the rear holes with bars tilted forward in line with the fork centres, and no risers to be the best thing I've done to the bike so far. Did a hare n hounds on Sunday, where I'd normally be dying from arm pump I could just ride, and a hell of a lot faster than I did before hand too!

I'm 6ft, and used RFX F7 Stewart bend which only have 50mm rise, feels AMAZING!
