Default Why Buy a Forestry Approved Silencer ?

I am wondering who other than me has gone out and invested in a spark arrester silencer ? And why ? It is a moral thing for me I love the forest and hate the idea of a firefighter getting hurt . I have no concern regaurding being checked for the most part but believe we need to check each other and ourselves . How about you ?

In my neck of the woods, there's almost nowhere to "legally" ride without one. That would even include private properties. MX is a different story, but for woods riding...better have one.

Didn't your bike come with a spark arrester silencer?

I mostly just want to be responsible for my environment so I always run one.

That said, and purely out of curiosity, have fires ever really been started from the exhaust of a two-stroke? Even a four stroke for that matter? I know my KX would occasionally spit some fire, but it didn't seem like anything that could start a fire. It almost seems more likely to start a fire from the hot head pipe coming in contact with dry leaves or grass.

Back in the day of having a points and condenser ignition, there was a real need for a SA.

I think it is a concern leftover from the pre nikasil days. I run one because all our riding is on public land but I also like the q4 because it's so darn quiet.

+1, like bowhunter, we need one to ride the areas we have access to. I've been checked a couple times.

And spooge issues aside (lol), I really like the Q4. I had the same pipe when I was riding orange and was glad it was stock on the GG.

Ya I was bummed when GasGas decided to put the turbine core on the new models instead of the stealth!
