The sound checking crew thought there was something wrong with their meter and tested it again to be sure. Sure enough 85db!

Of course sound meters can be out of calibration and I'm not declaring that an FMF "Q" spark arrestor will get you down to 85db but I think FMF deserves a "thumbs up" for making a great product that more than gets the job down.

Like the saying goes - "Less sound = more ground"
Steve,
A customer of ours installed one just before our last AMRA race and it
came through at an amazing 84db! He said there is no power loss either.
Great job from FMF!

Tom

Rode with mine today.
No loss of power and easy on the ears.
At WOT, it still had some bark.

Had my '05 MC250 sound tested this weekend.

Before - TCII with fresh packing = 92dB

After - Brand New Q Stealth = 83.6 dB

rpduc

It was nice to meet you this weekend at the Theilman (Minnesota) Trailride and once again the FMF Q continues to impress me.

After two(2 hour) harescrambles and half a dozen rides (about 10 to 12 hours of ridng total) the "Q" blew 83 db (!!!) on the '07 EC200 I was riding.

I would concur with other statements here that the "Q" has negligable, if any, effects on performance.

Ironically I had to ask to be sound tested as the "sound testing crew" were ready to give me a "pass" without actually testing the bike as they where talking about how quite my bike was as I rode up to the test.

Nice talking with you too Steve. Would have spent more time but was anxious to get out and abuse my body a bit more. Those guys do a great job on those trails.

I also forgot to report that my butt dyno detected no affect on performance with the Q Stealth.

I'm amazed how quiet this thing is. Now it sounds like my engine is falling apart.

No question, the quietest pipe I've ever had. Fit is just a tad funky though. It raised the pipe up a bit which put a lot of pressure on the rear hanger on the header pipe. I don't think it will hurt anything though.

I couldn't really tell a difference in power but I rarely wring it completely out. The neighbors definitely aren't going to hear me sneaking around in the woods behind our houses.

That would be a very smart move IMHO

Yeah but, that would raise the price.
Then everyone would complain that the Gas Gas' cost too much.
