Here's some interesting points about "chain torque".

Raising the crank location on the new husaberg motor is not a good thing - it will make the bike feel heavier side to side due to increased gyro effect.

The new BMW G450 - placing the countersprocket at the pivot point for the rear swingarm means less "bite" when accellerating - the rear end doesn't squat under accelleration. This has been tried before and abandoned due to poor behavior...

For the Berg, I've read that its the combination of moving the crank back that reduces the gyro effect plus helping the mass centralization, and the layed down cylinder that helps reduce the top heaviness.
For the Bimmer, we'll have to see how Knight and Juha adjust to it, but seeing as they didn't have any linkage in their bikes before, anything should be an improvement.

I hate to say it, but the 09 Bergs are the real deal. My buddy put one through hell at the Romaniacs this year and the bike performed flawlessly. We replaced the clutch after day 3 just to be safe, but other than that there was never a problem. The EFI is awesome.

Handling wise, the berg is amazing. Doesn't feel like a big, heavy thumper...until you have to lift it. Handles like a 250 two-stroke (responds very well to input at the pegs) but still has a lot of weight. It's only noticeable when you go to put it on a stand or have to lift it out of a mud hole.

My one and only concern with the berg is that it uses a KTM swingarm and shock. Sorry, KTM has terrible rear suspension and always will. Linkless can be fine, if the shock is mounted dead center in the chassis instead of offset (older bergs were centered and definitely worked).

I haven't got to ride the 515 but I can bet handling and suspension are very good.

I have a friend, goes by DaleEO, on the UHE Husaberg site. He has a lot of info on how his new 570 is working out. Ummm, it's not good. He LOVES it! Not good in that it makes me want one, and I can't afford it. I have a 2006 Husaberg 450. It is a woods weapon, and I suspect the new FI 450 will be also.

Here's a link to the Aussie Dirt Action Magazine which provides a brief report of the latest EC450. In the current issue the EC450 went on to win the shootout for the second year running, this time against 8 other 450's including the Berg, BMW & KTM.
The test was held in really sloppy conditions & they loved the motor and precise steering.
