combined rider/bike weight

I just don't get the whole "my bike is lighter, than your bike" thing. Try spending a few hours wrestling an f800gs through the singles. After that, any brand of offroad bike will feel light as a feather & be a joy to ride.

I did weigh my '04 200 once. I think it was around 225 to 235 lbs. cant remember exactly. Once rolling you really cant feel the weight on the gas gas. Its real nimble and has a nice light feel. I've had a couple of KDX 200's and they feel heavy when riding vs the gas gas even though there about the same weight. It really comes down to terrain, weather, tires, tubes, suspension, skill, etc.

bowhunter007, I just sold a R1100GS. You want heavy, try rolling it through the woods, I have. uggggg. I'll stay on my little gasgas for off roading.

For sure. I think most riders have experienced some form of "overweight" offroad riding. I agree lighter would be nice, but any bike I currently own tips scales beyond 250ish pounds.

I'm with you on this one
I run a 990 Adventure and just love jumping back on the GasGas after a day on the trails wrestling that beast around
I'd be better off going for a run than worrying about what bike weighs 10 kg more than the rest

hmmm,the point was more about total combined weight and power to weight index,than how light is your bike.equally applicable to your 990 adventure or bowhunters avatar special!.extra weight can be a bonus for long gravel powerslides and extended wheelies!nice and stable.light is particularly good when youre in the shite,obviously!rider weight is by far the bigger variable with dirtbikes.so bike hp/total kg index,tailored to individual rider,suitable for all bikes.if u factor in a pillion on your 990 you can tell your mates how much power you lose with the wife on the back!

My bike weighs about 120kg, I weight 95-97 (constantly up and down).

96 + 120 + 10 (for gear) = 226kg

I do not own any on off road heavy weights like a 990 ktm but have 2 Gasgas trials bikes . They are very light !! But my Gasgas endure bike are only heavy when they are upside down , on there side in a ditch , or some other bad angle . So name a endure bike that is not heavy under those circumstances ? Will 10 pounds make a difference to this old man ? Nope it will not . But I believe that my bike is one of the best enduro bikes out there . The Beta / Sherco / TM / Jap bikes and dare I say KTM are great bikes they may be lighter by a few pounds but my bike really handles great and is balanced great . Oh I almost forgot to mention it is the best looking bike out there !
