Default Anyone rewound a stator themselves?

I'm going to have to take the plunge and would like to acquire as much knowledge from those who possess it as I can. Just can't justify 150 or so bucks for something I can do myself.

Any technical know how would be deeply appreciated.

Bike is making spark but not lights. I can never win.

Do a search on you tube. I know my brother has done it several times. He always told me to count the number of wraps while un-wrapping it and get the same size magnetic wire. (Cheap off of ebay). Then wrap it as tight as you can with the same number of wraps. Then solider it back together and last use some good epoxy that will handle 200-300 degree's and coat the new wires.

Hope this helps. Al

and you need to rotate de wires at same direction. use a sharpie to number the coils and take notes on a notepad.

Sometimes you need to protect the wires coating (first pass) with paper from being damaged by iron centre.

Coat all coils with some tick paint or epoxi to protect from elements and vibration

I think I found the culprit. All my wires run along side the right side of my bike, right by the ignition coil. I noticed today while the bike was wound up pretty tight that my horn "sputters" at high RPMs. The ignition coil is interfering with my electronics and could have fried my stator or fried the lights front and rear.

Will have to borrow the meter again and get to work

For clarity, the horn is ran off a battery, everything else is ran off the stator.
