Rear wheel spacers revisited.
In the endless quest of an easy fix for the garbage aluminum rear spacer I came across These. It appears part number MS361-1 (do a search in the document) will work. According to tech support the inside diameter is 1.260 which is 32mm. I've measured three different spacers and they range from 1.245 to 1.262 which is slightly more or less 32mm. I'm guessing on the smaller diameter I would have to come up with a sealant/glue to keep the stainless spacer affixed to the aluminum.
The units are $5.09 each. What do you guys think? I'm not a machinist by any means. The unit size is ID: 1.260 Length: .555 The thickness is only a few thousandths so the slight oversize shouldn't be an issue. Years ago I used to install these on Chevy SB cranks because they would groove. As far as I know it was a permanent fix in that application. Thanks.

That is a bargain! If you got something like it from an industrial supplier (C/R speedi-sleeve), you'd pay four times as much. With the C/R units, you press them on, then snap off the flange part.
These sleeves are an ideal way to fix old spacers. I'd even put them on new spacers and never look at them again. |

Good find, we should look for the size for the front also. Yes the Loctite would be the way to go. $5 is great, I can get a new stainless spacer made at a local shop for $35.
What quantity is the $5.09 price? |

I'll measure the fronts and see what might work. Maybe I can order sets and do this for members.

I like the idea but I don't know if you could get the sleeve to set even with red loc-tite. I think those sleeves are intended to be .001" to .003" smaller than the surface they are repairing

0.020" would also make the seals drag.

When the season is done and I tear my bike down I could get a new quote for a SS spacer set. The guy does walk in jobs like this manually, after normal hours. Higher quantity gets a CNC program. A few years back a 25 pc run was $25 each, but there were very few '07s at the time so not much of a market.
