Default Messico v's standard gg pipe.

I managed to flatten my messico pipe last ride out, and being as I had some time on my hands today, decided to fix the flattened part of the pipe, but after an hour of heating and tapping and bungs being fired across the garage from the compresser, I've given up.

The dent is just to severe. The problem I had then was I love the way the bike runs on the messico, so I was resigned to running my dep pipe which is nearly new being as I've only run it a handful of times on the bike.

But I had a look at the standard gg black pipe and thought it looks very close to the messico, so I cut it open and removed that awful catalytic thingy inside, it's a wonder that the bikes run at all judging by how restricted the opening is, welded it all back up bolted it on the bike....

Runs just like I had the messico on there, power everywhere, a nice smooth hit, except it's made out of a lot heavier gauge metal, won't bother buying another aftermarket pipe again, will just source a secondhand gg standard pipe if I ever
manage to flatten this one.

Thought this might help someone, before they consider spending a lot on a new pipe. I believe the standard pipe I cut up was a 06.

In the US we got the GG factory pipe without the cat. Its a great pipe, nice power and heavy construction.

Keep the messico, but put a guard on it to protect it, better money spent than a new pipe.

The Dep is a good pipe, just not as good as a messico.

Never been a fan of pipe guards. They just seem to distribute the damage to the place you want it least. Generally anyway, most times u can see the pipe will be crushed in right out of the exhaust spigot. So if the hit is going to cause damage, then it?s going to cause damage. The first six inches or so is the last place you want distorted.

Hyde combo for the win. I cannot describe how hard I punish my bike and the hyde keeps the pipe off the frame rails.

This was done previously here too:
http://www.gasgasrider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=9127

I've got a brand new, never used cat pipe waiting to find a good welder who could do this for me, but until then I'm willing to sell it if anyone is interested.
I've already replaced my tweaked, nickle plated GG pipe with a FMF Knarly and I finally have it jetted right after a dozen attempts.

I just bought a '99 Ec 250 it had a fmf gnarly on it and it came with a messico. Both are dented. Which is the better pipe? The gnarly has less dents and the messico has something banging around in it when you shake it. What would that be?
