Default Hole worn through in silencer

Hey all -

I remember seeing a thread here some time ago that showed the resulting damage from the rubber "stopper" attached to the plastics that would inevitably wear a hole through the Q Stealth. I tried searching a whole bunch of different terms and couldn't find the thread.

Went to repack my silencer this weekend and noticed a hole in the silencer skin. I completely forgot about employing the same fix the original poster did and that lack of memory has bitten me in the arse

I found someone who does aluminum welding, wanted to see what the fix was so I could add that to the drop of aluminum we'll use to fill the hole.

Thanks a ton if you can dig up that thread and point me to it

If it were me, I would roughen up the surface with a low grit sand paper, and apply some JB weld, or other high temp epoxy, to patch up the hole. You could also add a washer and then apply the JB weld to add some material thickness and strength.

I have a hole in a case cover on my Husaberg that was patched with JB weld and has lasted for several years.

Not to say that you could not weld a mending plate over the hole, but welding that thin gauge aluminum will be tricky.

Yes JB weld works great for this.

I was planning to do JB Weld, but a local suspension guy offered up his aluminum welding services and he's been doing it for a long time, so I'm going to have him check it out and hopefully fill the hole.

Another member did something similar, but added some type of material to the weld to make it stronger and avoid the issue in the future...just can't remember what it was...lol.

Thanks for the input guys
