Best Under Jersey Protector?
Well after seeing Glenn's x-rays with a broken clavicle - I am looking to find the most comfortable under jersey protection that provides a high level of comfort. Can anyone point me to something that will work well for me?
By the way, I am very old school and wore a jofa under jersey unit for years - even after they were well out of vogue! jeff |

Dainese Wave V http://www.go-ride.com/ProductDetail...000-1116706835
Acerbis Koerta http://mx1west.com/index.asp?PageAct...ROD&ProdID=118 RockGardn Sports FlaK jacket http://http://www.rockgardn.com/item...htm?1=1&menu=1 Each has it's own advantages/disadvantages. The Dainese is really nice and really expensive at $399. The Acerbis has some collar bone protection but no rib protection (this is what I use at the moment). The RockGardn no collar bone protection but it does have some rib protection which is rare. All are a compromise in some way. Personally I believe a combination of under and over systems may be the best and provide the most comfort/cooling. It's just not made. Until then I keep searching for the ultimate combo for protection. Look into lacrosse gear for rib protection. Here are some other interesting things to look at for ideas. http://www.itech.com/default.aspx?it...O&intro=player These hockey shoulder pads chest/back protectors are really nice. Hope that helps you out Skidad in MA |

Jeff,
I broke my clavicle several years ago and landed on my right shoulder wearing a Fox cheast protector, the right shoulder cup looked like I tood a 5 lbs mallet to it! Fox sent me two new shoulder cups which snapped into place. I wear my CP under my jersey with a North Face micro absorbing shirt as a t-shirt, I also have a Nike Under Armor shirt as well. My helmet made contact with my cavicle also, you can see the dent in the black moulding just to the right and below the chin area. My doctor said that the break was more then like likey caused my rhe right shoulder being slammed to the ground and then the helmet contacting the bone, which was enough to break the clavicle...kinda like a chisle?? I now wear a donut to help pad that area. I'm no expert, but a chest protector will only do so much when that type of trama is placed on the shoulder area...my .02 I don't think I'd like to wear on of those EVS vest / chest protector and have a broken clavicle....that would be pretty painfull having to take that off...or have a doc bones take a shears and cut it off...

I was hoping to find something like my old jofa - but with a little better ventilation. It provided padding over the chest - over the collar bones and provided padded shoulder protection. Simple and effective. It does provide collar bone protection for a frontal hit - it will distribute the force of the impact.
I saw over on thumpertalk guys recommending hockey gear for protection - these look like they provide a much greater, and real, level of protection. Wouldn't want to wear a CCM hockey shoulder pad on a 100 degree day though... The only downside to my old jofa is that the sucker gets really warm in the summer; I'll have to look around a little more... jeff |

Jeff,
I have a Fox Roost II, and while I could do better as far as shoulder protection, I doubt anything would have saved me. I hit hard and fast, downhill WFO 3rd gear. Felt like I bounced and rolled. A lot of energy transfer there. I'll be in the market for a new protector as well. Also being I will now have a plate with screw heads just under the skin, I will try a neck roll like I make my kid wear. |

hey jeff... broke my lh collar bone. had on an acerbis zoom chest protector.
it ripped the bicep cover off the protector. i guess it pulled the protector over and my helmet got the collar bone. i am looking at a pad to mount on the cp, but have not done anything yet. jay |

Anyone use this stuff?
http://bohnarmor.com/catalog/proddetail.php?prod=BGCRM I'd really like to hear some first hand reports on that RXR stuff too. I tend to believe their marketing saying that air would better disperse impact than other materials, especially hard plastic.

I've heard that the RXR is very hot.
Besides, why not use a life vest? Same concept. Check this out-with neck brace. |

Been using this one for about 5 years and no complaints:
http://www.ufoplast.com/en/product-d...ectors/PT02062 Not sure if you can get it here in the USA. Mine came from the UK. Cool enough to wear in the summer and very adjustable. |
