Default wierd deflection problem...

I have an 01 xc 300 wp's usd's and ohlins rears. the only thing I have done to it is put a lowering link on it. I am having a wierd situation I noticed last weekend riding it.
when I hit some lips and other obstacles, the bike seems to always want to deflect to the right for some reason. I did not notice it as much without the link in, and I understand how that changes the fork angle, but I don't see how that would cause this ?
I did notice the bars were not exactly centered. they are a set of 7/8 pro tapers, but they have no line up marks on them at all. Also the support bar was not centered either. Both of those could not have been off more that 1/4 inch. but more of the bar was on the lh side..

i have never noticed this before, but have never rode it as hard and in the hardest conditions I have ever put the bike in, last weekend.. Other than that, the bike was a dream, but i went down twice in that same situation...

any thoughts ??

i am by no means an expert, maybe i'm way off, but here's what i would do...

check sag, make sure tubes are centered / and not binding, all the way through the travel. check front wheel bearings. . maybe too much stiction on the one side? or maybe differing amounts of fluid...

i wouldn't think the lowering link would have caused the deflection (i would think it would help stop it actually..)

being in wv, and riding primarily in all rocks, i run pretty soft on the front compression (wp 10 turns out), and low on the fork oil..when i stiffen it up, i deflect badly on square hits.....

that was what i was thinking on the link also...

your approach is exactly where i was going to start... i tend to think it is too much compression also.
one thing i need to check, the guy that had it before me told me he put a softer spring on it also, not sure what rate.

it was just weird.. my knee is killing me... landed on it the same way... twice

thanks for the input
