Default 2005 FSE450 wont start

Has anyone else had trouble getting there bike to start.
Recently I re did the valve guides and put in new ring. However upon reassembly the dam thing wont start. It will using aero start and will run fine.
Have I missed anything?

Re-check your timing. You are more than likely a tooth out on one of the cams.

Smile Timing

With the timing, is there a trick to setting the Cam timing. The books a bit vague.
What Ive done :
1. set engine to TDC
2. set the cams so the three holes (2 outside, with 1 small in the centre)
3. the marks with the arrows (2 straight up and 2 pointing towards each other)

My question then is, which way should I go. Back a tooth or forward?.

Thanks mate.

If bike runs fine after starting it using aerostart, then your cam timing is likely ok. It might be a sensor problem, get the bike hooked up to a diagnostic pc and verify your efi and sensors. Also check intake for leaks, spray your aerostart near the intake rubber with engine running, any shift in revs indicates a leak.

Thanks for that. I have one more twist though. The bike will start fine when cold, but with difficulty when at operating temp.
I've checked Cam timing and it was out by only 3deg.
I will try the leak test and will get it plugged into a computer.

any other thoughts or help would be great.

Regards

Dean

The Gasser 4strokes are very picky when it comes to warm starts. Open the throttle ever so little, just barely, and then hit the e-button. If that doesn't help, recheck your valve play.
