Default Crank seal leak?

i heard that some gassers were known to have a problem with leaking crank seals.
is it possible this would cause a lean condition on the motor?

also the plug on the bottom end ( not the gear oil drain) , could it be leaking?

I never heard of it being a problem, but its possible on any 2-stroke. The ignition side seal failing could cause a lean condition. Remove the ignition and look for signs of leakage, if the seal is bad enough to be a problem it will leak in both directions. Its easy enough to swap if questionable. The drain plug leaking would be a first, but it doesn't hurt to check. A quick and dirty way to do a leak check is spray some engine start fluid near the suspected area, if your pulling in outside air the RPM will increase. Best is a pressure test.
