2T Fuel Injection
In the latest Motocross Digital, there is an article about 2T Fuel injection and some of the issues surrounding 2T FI.
Quite interesting how he proposes dual injectors among other things. Kim

They have been running FI on 2T sleds for years. Ski Doo has the best system yet, its what they have been running in the envinrude boat motors. they run cleaner than four strokes.

Not quite,IMO.
The reasons they say the 2 strokes run cleaner is, the factor in oil changes with the 4 strokes. The 4 strokes create more waste products due to that. |

Compared to a similar 2004 four-stroke engine, carbon monoxide emissions with Evinrude E-TEC are typically 30 to 50 percent lower; and at idle are lower by a factor of 50 to 100 times. In addition, Evinrude E-TEC emits 30 to 40 percent less total particulate matter on a weight basis than a similar “ultra-low emissions” four-stroke outboard. Furthermore, oxides of nitrogen and hydrocarbon emissions for Evinrude E-TEC are similar, if not lower, than a four-stroke outboard. There are no oil changes with this engine, as well as no belts, and no valve or throttle linkage adjustments. This makes Evinrude E-TEC engines easier to own than comparable four-stroke engines. In addition, numerous advancements combine to create the Evinrude E-TEC quiet signature sound including an exclusive idle air bypass circuit. Also they can meet current CA CARB emission standards. The current EFI for 2Ts works very well. My father has an 07 and I have an 08 Polaris. They have 2 fuel injectors (per cyllinder) and oil injection (NOT mixed fuel). We have run them from 0 degrees to 60+ and from sea level to 9000 feet w/o any jetting hitches (although they can run a little lean at low elevations when it is cold).

I heard that Husqvarna was working on a FI 2-stroke a couple of years ago, but apparently they didn't continue. Too bad, I'd love having all the benefits of a two stroke, plus the convenience of dumping straight gas in the tank. Just watch the injector oil level. Easy. I could really give a rip about it being more environmentally sound, because frankly, dirt bike exhaust is no factor at all.
