Some if set up right are great in the woods,, my 450 exc is good,, my buddies te450 sucks big time.. feels twice the size it is.. and strangely my 625sxc was not that bad in the singletrack.... but get into the stickfarms and anywhere you might have to pick it up.. its size and weight reared its ugly head.. but something nice about ridding a bike thru the woods with 60+hp at the rear wheel..
After the 625 the 450exc feels like a lightweight.. and the 250 feels like a mountain bike.. but then I ride with a couple guys who can ride the KTM adventures in the pa rocks almost at enduro speeds.. yes they do go through some very expensive parts.. but its neat to see a $15K 500# bike charging through a rock garden at the RORR enduro.. in New Philadelphia Pa..

If the Cannondale I had was a little shorter and turned a bit better, it would have been pretty decent in most of the stuff I ride. Even as it was, it was easier to ride than a TE450. Steve, your KTM feels a lot smaller than a TE, but the TE450s are very stable at higher speeds. 450s have their place, but anywhere that the weight comes into play, or the heat, is not for me. Your average dual sport or wherever you are not on/off the throttle a lot is fine. This is JMO for us average guys, not someone like Cervantes.

When you think about where these all came from, if it wasn't for the EPA here, and the prospect of lucrative parts sales, they likely would not exist at the level they do today and over ten years of hard R&D would have went into the two stroke. Its also possible that the direction was made easier by the sharing of road race and road technology, that was the case with Yamaha for sure. Thats where the big $$ is, and where the type of engine is dictated, so it makes sense all the big players would start there.

I've been to a lot of hare scrambles this fall, and its like the mid '90s again, the two stroke is coming back for sure.

I've built and raced a few 4 strokes in the last 2 years.

HT320

280xcf

RMZ450

Traction and torque was great. Not consistently starting in gear (dead engine starts) ,occasional stalling a few times in a race and overheating was not. Our here we ride nothing but tight tight courses. Even my KTM 300xc would puke and steam especially if it got muddy. My 2011 GG 250 was just about perfect for what we do. Patiently waiting for my 2012.

Those bikes look like crap! NOT!

Wow. Very nice looking machines, especially the last two.

However, i'd crash them to death, and they'd look like crap-pie in about a week. It would be too depressing to tear up such a sweet looking bike.

Does your GG look that nice? Have you posted pics of it?

Nice work.

Here's the 2011 I had. Can't wait to build up the 2012. I think I might be just as addicted to building them up as riding them.

Default Cervantes in Poland

It appears that Cervantes had a tough time with Taddy in Poland.......

Quote:
Blazusiak was again fastest off the start and grabbed an early lead in the final race of the night. With a clear track in front of him he laid down some of his fastest laps of the event, earning himself another victory. Behind him a three-rider battle broke out between Ljunggren, Cervantes and Walker for second. Cervantes was the first to falter allowing Walker into third place and also ending his chance of a possible third overall. Walker pushed Ljunggren hard for second, but with he couldn't pass the Swede and had to settle for third and second overall. Ljunggren's second position boosted him to third overall.
